Family Color Challenge

My daughter-in-law and her mother were here (along with my son and my DIL's father, too) over Thanksgiving.  Karla (the mother) and I were involved in Erin Prais-Hintz' Color Challenge using color palette's made from pictures of various parts of the earth. It was great. For that reveal, click here.  We all got to bead together and have fun. Chelsea, (my DIL) was making a necklace and earrings for  Erin's Toast of the Town challenge that Karla and I had done about a month ago.For that reveal, click here.  Anyway, a couple of weeks later, Karla and I were at a Bead show and decided we'd like to try another color challenge.  So I got on Design-Seeds and found a wonderful palette.  She has the most amazing color palette's.  I'm trying to save my money and buy at least one of her color palette books.  This is the color palette I found.  So, Karla, Chelsea and I are all challenging ourselves to make something with this color palette.  Our goal is to have it done by the 31st of January and then post on my blog and Karla's blog, Texas Pepper Jams what we've created.  Chelsea doesn't have a blog, so I'll post her creation here.  However, we're all supposed to get together the 26th of January in Louisiana for a Grand Funk concert.  So we've decided to try to get our pieces done by then and then all wear them to the concert and see how 3 people interpret the same color palette differently.  It should be a blast.  If you'd like to play along, here's the Color Palette:

If you do play along, be sure to give credit to Design Seeds for the palette when you post it on your blog.  Our post date is the 31st of January for the challenge.  So keep tuned.

Silk Color Challenge

DON'T FORGET TO VOTE, Voting ends today!  Marsha Neal is having a fun challenge. She has wonderful silks and has come up with a challenge using her silks and silk colors. You have to find an inspiration (photo or something) and then pick up to 10 silks that feature colors in your inspiration. I found a wonderful photo of some autumn colors and picked 10 colors (actually I had 14 at first and had to change it) that I felt were found in the photo.  You then have to make them into a Mosaic and starting next Monday, people start voting on their favorite palettes.  Plus you can buy the palettes that are made if they have the most votes.  I've called my Silk Challenge mosaic Autumn Tranquility. So please check it out and vote on it starting next Monday, the 18th.  Here's a picture of my Mosaic, Autumn Tranquility.  Vote here: Marsha Neal, starting Monday.

Finally Friday Challenge.

If you remember I posted last Friday about a great challenge by Shannon of ForMySweetDaughter on Etsy and Blogger. Her challenge was to take a color palette she picked from Design Seeds and either make a piece of Jewelry or choose Beads in the color palette and post what you make/design/find.  I didn't have time to make any jewelry this week, but I did find some wonderful beads and such on Etsy that I'd love to use for this color palette.  Remember, this is the palette from Design Seeds:  Nested Tones
And following this are the great beads I found from various sellers on Etsy that I felt would fit this color palette.  First up is Natural Mother of Pearl Chips from Design Supplies 4 UNext is some great Blue Gray ceramic beads from MyGlitterStuff  After that we have some Twisted Cut Glass Bugle Beads from Cherry Blossom Surplus.  I love these little Light Gray Lampwork Spacer Beads from The Spacer Shop.  They really seem to fit the light gray in the palette.  And finally we have these wonderful Lt. Blue Robin Egg speckled Vintage Murano rounds for the Lt. Blue in the Pallete.  They're from TheBeadFeed.  So if you're looking for inspiration, check out this palette and all these great shops for your jewelry making needs.

The Palette for next Friday is Boating Tones. I love the colors in this palette, so I hope I have time to make something from it.  As usual it is from Design Seeds.  If you made something from this weeks Finally Friday Palette challenge, share your link.

Finally Friday Challenge

This sounded like so much fun. Shannon of For My Sweet Daughter on Etsy and Blogger set up this challenge for herself.  She loves Design Seeds palettes as much as I do.  They are a great inspiration for creativity.  So she decided to post a palette from Design Seeds each Friday and then allow herself one week to either create a great piece of Jewelry or choose Beads inspired by that palette.  She'll then post what she makes/finds in a pic and then post a new challenge.  Now I don't know if I can do this every Friday, but I'd like to try it at least twice a month.  So here goes:  Here's the first Finally Friday Challenge palette.

Want to play along?  Just comment and join in.

(If you decided to post a design palette from Design Seeds, be sure to give them credit in your post/picture of their palette.)

So let's play.  Post what you find next Friday.

Challenge of Color Blog Hop is Here! Plus Day 5 of Virtual Craft Show-I'm Featured!

Not quite a month ago, Erin of Treasures Found blog issued a color challenge.  54 of us decided to take that challenge.  We signed up on her blog with a color we'd like to work with (or challenge ourself with) and she picked a color palette for us from Jessica of Design Seeds.  Jessica has wonderful color palettes on her blog to give you inspiration.  We had to make an accessory using one or all of the colors in our palette.  I picked purple and Erin picked Autumn Spectrum for me to work with.  Here is my color palette I was given:
I love the colors and had just the right beads to start this challenge off with.  I was wanting to design a choker to wear with purples so this fit right in.  I added the small purple czech glass crystals, the small muted green and purple oval beads, the purple/light green/bluish leaf beads to the gold chain and went to work.  I wanted to add some ribbon with it, but the blue/teal I had just didn't look right. I may add some later if I find the right color.  So without further ado, here's my piece by itself and on the color palette to see how well I matched everything up.  What do you think?  Be sure to check Erin's blog, Treasures Found for the rest of the participants and click through to their blogs to see what they created.

AND today is the day I'm being featured on the Virtual Craft Show! It's day 5 with 10 more great artists and their shops, sales, discounts and giveaways. Be sure to check out Pretty Things blog for the giveaways and the way to win! Here's my giveaway. Have fun.
